Vision for 2014

{While trying to nap while feeling sick myself,
this is where the Lord led me with vision for this blog}

I was in kindergarten when I first heard the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?". At five I would tell you I wanted to be a doctor.

I was corrected too many times to count with, "Do you mean nurse, because you are a girl". Nope, I meant doctor. That's what I wanted. I thought anything was possible for girls too. And I still do.

I wanted to be a leader in healing, to make people whole again. And while I never pursued that career idea past first grade (not much for science & math), today I still want to heal. I want to bring you soup when you're sick. I want to let you know you're not alone when your world is falling apart. I want to help hold your heart together when it's so heavy you feel you might sink. I want to speak words of comfort. I want to stir up hope and healing where you have been defeated, life where you have experienced loss.

This is part of what I aim to do with my blog Redeeming Her. Lord willing, I will share stories of what God does in redeeming lives, whether from His word, from my life and hopefully sharing your stories too.

I want this to be a safe place to be broken, in progress, and healed again. Where we find beauty for ashes, joy replacing mourning, praise instead of despair. This life of full of sorrows & joy and joy is for the taking.

I invite you to join this hopeful journey. Get connected with Redeeming Her with Bloglovin' and Twitter.

In faith, Rachel

  1. Oh Rachel, I LOVE this. I love the vision the Lord solidified in you for your beautiful blog. Several years ago, a prophetic came to our church. She told me I would have a ministry to hundreds of women. I laughed and tuck the word away, knowing I am not gifted in speaking. But look what the Lord is doing through my blog? I know He has so many gifts for you to share. Continue being faithful! I am thankful to be on this journey with you!

    1. Thank you Barbie! Your support means more than you know. And yes, isn't it amazing when you see the fruit in places you've been planting?! I'm so glad you were ministered to with that truth...and yes, I have been there laughing too (in doubt) in the face of big God sized promises...yet He is faithful! Always!

  2. Rachel, thinking of you as a child nearly brought me to tears. You are so full of love in your beautiful heart. I think it's interesting your story about being corrected from doctor to nurse because my ECE text books talk about how girls are often treated differently from boys. It's important educators allow all students to feel capable of reaching their dreams. I am proud of you & hope you are feeling better.

    1. Aww thanks Aunt Chrissy! Your support means so much too! It's God who keeps pouring love into this heart of mine.

      And it is interesting how girls still receive different messages, even locally. Just a few weeks ago I overheard a boy tell a girl that women aren't allowed to be presidents of companies and she believed him. Oh boy we all talked that one out!

      Thanks for the get well wishes:)

  3. What a beautiful vision and I can say from only the few times I have been here, I've been encouraged by your words. I'm glad to be joining you on your journey.
    Many blessings,

    1. Beth, thank you for confirming what I'm doing. It's always so good to hear from readers & I'm so thankful for your encouraging presence too!
