For You, A Long Way Off

The other day I saw a young boy recognize his grandfather while he was still a long way off. He cried out "Pappi" to him in joy, ran the distance to him with only his embrace in mind, and nearly knocked him over with his joyful love as he jumped in his arms. This is about a love like that.

Return to my arms.

Time is precious. Life is precious. Relationship is precious. You are precious.

Distraction, death, disunity and disillusion have been keeping you from me.

(please return.) My arms are open, wide. My love is endless. My presence is peace. Just two steps in my direction and I will go the rest of the way. For you. I will come running.

{You won't find what you need there or there or there or all the places you've tried...you keep coming up empty. Don't you know.}

I love you in fields where you only have scraps. Where you will find my faithfulness. {like Ruth}

I love you in palaces where your courage learns to walk. Where you will find my favor. {like Esther}

I love you in dark corners where hope is winnowed out. Where your plight is seen. {like Hagar}

I have loved you with an everlasting love. A love large enough for your story.

And while you are still a long way off, I run to you. I RUN to you.

"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him."

I am running toward you. I am running. Stand. Stay awhile. Return. You are in my sight. I want to hold you. You belong. I am love. I am love. I am love. I am love. I am love. I am love. I love you so.

    1. And just when I was doubting that this message was for anyone...and if I should keep writing...thank you Lord for working everything for good.
